COMMUNITY ORIENTED PROGRAMME
Early cancer detection (ECD) – in order to screen the general population and high risk population, cancer screening programmes are held every Saturday where in the general population as well as family members accompanying cancer patients are done and if found necessary, investigations like mammogram etc., are done. Every year Breast cancer awareness week, No tobacco day, Cancer awareness day are being observed to sensitise the general population about the etiological factors of cancer and the need for early detection of cancers by screening methods. General public are also being issue pamphlets and brouchures to create further awareness about cancer. Posters educating patients and public about cancer awareness are being posted at various prominent places in the department especially in front of radiotherapy treatment room.
Cycle rally to spread the awareness about cancer are being regularly held. Last year such a rally was conducted by our department collaborating with care for cure foundation.
PG s posted at Kancheepuram regional cancer center actively participate in the cervical screening programme conducted at that institute.
